Instructions
Title:Instructions
Author: Neil Gaiman
Illustrator: Charles Vess
Publication Date: April 27, 2010
Synopsis from GoodReads:
Trust Dreams.
Trust your heart,
and trust your story.

A renowned storyteller whose words have transported readers to magical realms and an acclaimed illustrator of lushly imagined fairy-tale landscapes guide a traveler safely through lands unknown and yet strangely familiar . . .

. . . and home again.
I first read the poem, "Instructions," in Fragile Things: Short Fictions and Wonders. I thought it was pretty cool and that was that.

Then I had the pleasure of meeting Charles Vess when he released Drawing Down the Moon, a book of his artwork to date, and he shared the "Instructions" artwork with us.  He has elevated it to magic. This book won't just be for children, it will be for the child inside each of us, who still sometimes needs instructions for the fairy tale of life.

If you just can't wait, here's a video of Gaiman himself reading "Instructions." You'll have to wait on that fabulous artwork, I'm afraid.

  14. Thanks for compliments on my new layout!

If you haven't read Gaiman, you should give him a try. He writes kids books too, so it's only a commitment of a few hours to read one of those. He's just awesome.
