But he and the man, and every person in St. Petersburg, felt the first wave of trouble because it was a real wave--a wave of sound so low, it was felt more than heard. No machine recorded it for historians to later note, but every living thing and every man-made structure was rocked for a mile in every direction of the spot[...]. Every human in the city, for one ominous moment, stopped and had the same thought: Something is not right with the world.
