Reading Rendezvous
I am blessed to live in a beautiful part of the world and to have the opportunity to visit other beautiful places fairly frequently. I've decided to feature locations that I find, either at home or on vacation, that are just asking me to grab a book, settle in and get reading!  This will be an irregular feature, but when I have a photo, I'll post it on Sunday.
The Kite Runner
This photo was taken at Pearson Falls, a beautiful waterfall located between Tryon and Saluda, NC. It's owned and maintained by the Tryon Garden Club. We went there for the first time for a picnic last Saturday, and it was beautiful. You can take better pics of the waterfall than this, but this is where we had our picnic and where I remembered to drag out my copies of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. I'll probably be posting a few more pictures from this lovely spot in the future.

A Thousand Splendid Suns
Let me explain about the books. Between now and August 15, 2010, for every picture uploaded to their site of someone holding one or both of Hosseini's books, Riverhead Books will donate $2 to The Khaled Hosseini Foundation. From the Foundation's About page:
The Khaled Hosseini Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, provides humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan. The Foundation supports projects which provide shelter to refugee families and economic and education opportunities for women and children. In addition, the Foundation awards scholarships to students who have migrated to the United States under refugee status and to women pursuing higher education in Afghanistan.
That's a cause I can get behind, and it's such an easy thing to do. Also, I just loved these books and gave them both five stars. I've already uploaded my pictures to the group on Penguin's website.  Won't you go upload yours?

Thanks for taking the time to comment! Have a great day!
