Oh, the French Broad River. You can't escape it here at home. It's mostly pretty tame, but it has to remind us occasionally what it's capable of. But on this August evening, it was perfect. The light was perfect, the sound of the river was perfect, the temperature and humidity were perfect. Wow.
Have you ever noticed that if you wiggle around enough on a rock, you're bound to find a dent that was just made for you to sit in? I have fallen asleep cradled on a rock at the summit of a fairly grueling (for me) hike. But then, I can sleep pretty much anywhere. Still, that was a comfortable rock.
I'm reading By Fire, By Water by Mitchell James Kaplan in this picture.
I am blessed to live in a beautiful part of the world and to have the opportunity to visit other beautiful places fairly frequently. I've decided to feature locations that I find, either at home or on vacation, that are just asking me to grab a book, settle in and get reading! This will be an irregular feature, but when I have a photo, I'll post it on Sunday.I have an affiliate relationship with IndieBound, Book Depository, and Better World Books and will receive a small commission at no cost to you if you purchase books through links on my site.
