Book Journey
It's Monday!  What Are You Reading? is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

Over the past two weeks, I've

Read:
The Maze Runner by James Dashner, read by Mark Deakins

Survival in Auschwitz by Primo Levi, translated by Stuart Woolf

Rising Tide: The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 and How It Changed America by John M. Barry

Reviewed:
Wild Orchid: A Retelling of "The Ballad of Mulan" by Cameron Dokey

The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale

Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

Instructions by Neil Gaiman

The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

Survivial in Auschwitz by Primo Levi

Maus I and Maus II by Art Spiegelman

Currently Reading:
A Storm of Swords by George R. R. Martin

Seabiscuit: An American Legend by Laura Hillenbrand

Fluke: Or I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings by Christopher Moore, read by Bill Irwin

Up Next:
The only book I might finish is Fluke so I'll be looking for a new audio. Right now I'm leaning toward The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid, but that could change.

Events:
I saw Robin Oliveira, author of My Name is Mary Sutter, at my local indie, Malaprops. I've been looking forward to reading her book ever since I learned of it, but I still haven't gotten to it yet! I truly enjoyed hearing her speak of the inspiration for the novel and the research she did. I really liked the excerpt she read as well. She seemed very nice. If she comes to a bookstore near you, go see her!

What are you reading this week?

I have an affiliate relationship with Malaprop's, my local independent bookstore, and Better World Books. I will receive a small commission at no cost to you if you purchase books through links on my site.

  1. Zookeeper's Wife is on my to-read book shelf-I'll have to click over to read your thoughts. I love to hear authors talk about their work.

I loved The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid and bet it would make a great listening choice.

  2. The Zookeeper's Wife is one that I keep meaning to read. Maybe if I put it on my iPad I'll get to it since it would just keep staring me in the face!

  4. Good for you on Rising Tide! That book is huge and dry (haha). I had read about 1/3 of it when Katrina hit and I just coudn't keep going. I recently returned it to the friend who had loaned it to me, as if I hadn't gotten back to it by now, I was unlikely to ever do so.

  9. You and I have very similar tastes in books. Great list! My list this week is inflated with picture books that I read with my daughter and manga that I read over my morning coffee. Come see what I'm reading this week.

  10. The Goose Girl has been on my reading list for some time, especially now that the cover has been redone with Allison Jay's illustration. Love it! I'm so glad you loved it because I'm hoping to read it sometimes in the future.

Hope you have a fabulous reading week and if you get a second stop my to see what I've been reading at There's A Book! :)
