Middle East Reading Challenge
Helen's Book Blog is hosting the Middle East Reading Challenge again in 2012. I took part last year and really enjoyed the books I read. I generally do enjoy reading about other cultures, but I sometimes need a little push to get outside of my comfort zone and actually pick them up.
I've said this before, but I firmly believe that reading books about other cultures is a good way to foster more understanding and tolerance in the world. It might not be THE answer, but it's part of the answer. Thanks to Helen for pushing me a little to practice what I preach. ;-)
There are no levels; Helen only asks that we read as much as we'd like. How low-pressure is that? Visit Helen's Book Blog for details (including a list of countries) and to sign up!
I'll track my progress here.
I have an affiliate relationship with Malaprop's, my local independent bookstore located in downtown Asheville, NC; and Better World Books. I will receive a small commission at no cost to you if you purchase books through links on my site.

I am so glad you'll be joining us for the Middle East Challenge! I look forward to seeing what you read and I whole heartily agree that we learn about a culture from reading its books. I find many of the challenges I do are geography/culture related
