Readers' Workouts

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Hosted at Joy's Book Blog every Tuesday, Readers' Workouts gives us a chance to motivate each other and stay accountable to ourselves.

So I wasn't quite as active as I would have liked this week, but  I wasn't too bad. I let the meteorologists freak me out on Thursday, even though I knew--KNEW!--that there was no earthly way we would get 3-6" of snow after the week of rain and decent temperatures we'd had. I picked up my car from the mechanic after work and headed straight home. Just in case. And nothing happened.

I hate to say this, but--I'll be glad when the New Year's rush is over at the gym. It's so crowded! I know I should be glad that people are trying to get healthy, but really, I just want room to move. I'm horrible.

I picked up my new running shoes on Thursday too. They feel so good on my feet! I was just making do with my work sneakers, Merrells that are good for getting me around the doctor's office but not good for speed. I stopped by the gym this afternoon hoping for a treadmill but no such luck. Oh well. Maybe Wednesday. They felt good on the stationary bike...

My new running shoes

I almost forgot! After reading about The Color Run over at Sheila's blog, Team Kickin' It, I poked around a little to see if there was going to be one near me. There is! It's a couple of hours away, but it looks like so much fun, it will be worth the drive. I'm already registered and I've twisted some arms to build my team. I think we'll have a blast! That will be happening March 16.

How are your workouts going?

I have an affiliate relationship with Malaprop's, my local independent bookstore located in beautiful downtown Asheville, NC; and Better World Books. I will receive a small commission at no cost to you if you purchase books through links on my site.

  1. Glad your new shoes feel so good! Nothing's worse than walking/running in shoes that hurt.

Congratulations on taking the Color Run plunge! Sounds fun!

BTW: your link to this weeks RW takes you to your post from last week, but Joy can fix that for you.

  3. Yay, NEW SHOES!!! Getting new running shoes is so much fun. I keep looking at new ones even though I'm happy with the ones I currently own and can't afford a new pair anyway.

You definitely need good shoes for running, it makes such a world of difference. Comparing my old shoes which I thought I was quite happy in, to my current shoes though - such a big difference.

  4. I feel the same way about the current rush at the gym. I'm really happy for the people who want to get more fit, but I also wish they would clear out, lol. I'll be happier in a couple of weeks when the crowd has thinned.

Glad you found some new shoes, hopefully things get better!
