I am literally counting down the minutes to 2013, but I thought I'd throw out one last post for 2012--the obligatory top ten list. I'm too stingy with my 5-star ratings; this is tough to do! I am leaving re-reads out, which makes it even harder. Please note that these are books that I read in 2012, they were not published in 2012. They are actually pretty much in order from #1 to #10.
Madame Tussaud by Michelle Moran
Daytripper by Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá
Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese
The Story of Beautiful Girl by Rachel Simon, read by Kate Reading
Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand
Room by Emma Donoghue, read by Michal Friedman et al.
Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie, read by Deanna Hurst
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor, read by Khristine Hvam
Oh, I almost forgot Rick Bragg! He didn't crack my top ten, but I discovered him in 2012 and I am in L-O-V-E love. I read his books Ava's Man and The Prince of Frogtown last year. I never read books by the same author that close together. Never. He gets a special mention.
That's my list! Agree? Disagree? What were your favorites?

Ohh I see a Gone in the wind in that. Awesome 10s
ReplyDeleteIt was a hard decision for me to cut it down to 10 though. Here's mine!
OO I have read some of these but not all - it sounds like I should read them though. I am definitely adding Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Madame Tussaud to my list. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope I can get to Madame Tussaud this year. I've read most of her books and really like them. Gone with the Wind is my favorite book of all time and I absolutely loved Lonesome Dove. Great choices!
ReplyDeletegreat titles, I think 3 of those were on my 2011 favorite list.

ReplyDeleteI loved Story of Beautiful Girl and Cutting For Stone. I read both for my book group in 2012. I also enjoyed Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Bet Me, and Madame Tussaud. Great list!
ReplyDeleteI am also stingy with my 5 star ratings but I gave Room a 5 and Cutting for Stone a solid 4. I also like Beautiful Girl :)
