After a brief delay, I'm finally posting the Books in Translation Reading Challenge for 2014. The goal is obviously to read translations of books, from any language into the language(s) you're comfortable reading in; they don't have to be in English.

You can read any genre and any age range. Crossovers with other challenges are fine. Any format that you choose is also acceptable. The challenge will run from January 5 through December 31, 2014.

Looking for suggestions? I have a shelf on GoodReads you can check out. There's also a Listopia list on GoodReads. Linked reviews for the 2013 challenge and 2012 challenge are a great resource.

I am not limiting the challenge to bloggers. You can also link to a review you wrote on another site, such as GoodReads or LibraryThing.

Beginner: Read 1-3 books in translation
Conversationalist: 4-6
Bilingual: 7-9
Linguist: 10-12

Different this year: I'll put up a new post with a linky for reviews later, probably tomorrow. I'll keep a permanent link to both posts in my sidebar. That will be easier to keep track of which links are reviews and which are sign up posts.

I hope you'll join me!  Sign up anytime throughout the year by linking below!

  1. Dang it, ladies and gentlemen; we have "a hat trick". You know the hockey term meaning three goals scored by the same player in one game? I'm sure you can translate that to yourself: I want in your whole trio of challenges! :) You're very broad-minded! My trio I've mentioned to you is brand new, premiering next month. Joyeux nouvel an, 2014! Carolyn

  2. OK. You got me. I'm in *ahem* a few challenges already, but this one sounded really intriguing. I headed over to Amazon and loaded up my Kindle. :O)

  3. I was realllllly trying not to sign up for any more challenges, but I may need to squeeze this one in...I have a few translated books on my Classics Club list that I'd like to read soon, so I figure I might as well -- will link up soon :)

    1. All linked up! Thanks for hosting :)

    2. Officially upping my level since it's only April and I completed the Beginner level already -- going for Conversationalist now :)

  4. Sign me up for the Linguist level!

  5. trying for the b-lingual - couldn't find this when I decided on challenges earlier so start one for myself on goodreads - but nice to find company:)

  6. I'm in. Thank you for hosting this challenge!

  7. Thanks for hosting this challenge again!
